The following is my interview with Amanda from the Lebanon Reporter. She writes reviews of Restaurants in the Indianapolis area.
MK: Do they give you any special treatment? would you consider it ethical to accept any special treatment from the restaurants?
AM: I do not give any restaurant special treatment, that would destroy the real reason for a critique. I also think it defies the purpose of writing a critique if the restaurant gives ME special treatment. The restaurant would probably pay more attention to detail with my meal and my readers want to know how the food will taste when they go there, and since they're not all journalists they would not get special treatment like I did.
MK:You are a freelance journalist, have you ever considered writing about anything besides food critiques? AM: No because journalism is all about having a passion about other peoples' passions. Everyone loves food, that's just how it is. Therefore, my passion is their passion.
MK: Do you believe that print journalism will phase out as a result of the internet and more citizen journalism (ie blogs and twitter?)
AM: There is no doubt in my mind, print journalism sales are declining at a rapid rate because people are turning to technology as their predominant source for all information.
